FAQ

Lead times

Products in the ready-made shop ship in 1-3 business days with the shipping speed of your choice. Made-to-measure custom orders have a standard lead time of 4 weeks, although rush orders may be accepted with an additional fee. For bespoke orders, we ask that you expect about 6 weeks for the whole process, including fittings, with additional time for shipping if you are outside of the Portland, OR area.

Made-to-measure VS Bespoke

Our customers can place a made-to-measure custom order by choosing a design from our catalogue, or an existing item in the ready-made shop, and submitting their request along with their measurements and material/color preference. Using our measuring guide, made-to-measure customers will take their own measurements at home or with a friend’s help, and they will receive an item made from a pattern developed to their unique size.

In contrast, customers interested in a bespoke custom order may be fitted either in person, or with the designer supervising at-home measuring over Zoom. Additionally, there may be up to 2 fittings to adjust the garment(s) to fit the customer perfectly. Fittings are available in-person in the greater Portland, OR area, and by mail to customers elsewhere.

Sustainability

No-deadstock manufacturing

Today, clothing made for mass market fits in one of two ways: either its stretchy, or it’s oversized. How else could clothes made to average measurements perfectly fit an individual?

In order to achieve the perfectly tailored fit, our clothing is specifically made to order for each customer. We get to lower our waste with a manufacturing model that doesn’t create unsold stock, and you get to wear high-quality, well-fitted clothing meant to last, creating less fashion waste in the long-term.

Recycled and reclaimed materials

Many of the fabrics, beads, trims, jewelry elements and even notions we use are picked up second-hand from creative reuse centers, rummage sales, and direct donations. We also directly salvage materials left over from theater, film, and TV productions. Because of this, many of our fabrics choices are limited run, and sometimes even one-of-a-kind.

Returns & exchanges

Our store accepts returns within 45 days of their initial purchase. Please contact us at info@changeling.shop to initiate a return and receive a shipping label. The cost of the return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

We do not accept returns of items that have been worn, used, or otherwise damaged by the customer.

We accept cancellations of made-to-measure and bespoke orders up until the cutting stage. Once your chosen fabric has been cut, you will be changed a materials and labor fee should you decide to cancel.

Please contact us if you are interested in an exchange, as we consider them on a case-by-case basis.
